On July 13, 2011, Rebecca Zahau was brutally murdered at the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado, California. She was found naked, gagged, her hands tied behind her back and her ankles tied together, with a rope around her neck. San Diego Sheriff William Gore declared her death a suicide. Rebecca’s family did not accept this, and retained experts who determined that Rebecca was sexually assaulted and then choked to death before the crime scene was wiped clean of fingerprints and DNA, and made to look like she was hanged off the balcony. On April 5, 2018, a civil jury ruled that Rebecca was in fact murdered by Adam Shacknai. Nevertheless, Sheriff Gore refuses to reclassify Rebecca’s death as a homicide and reopen the investigation. That is why the Zahau Family needs help from anyone who has information regarding the murder. There are still witnesses that were outside the Spreckels Mansion on the evening of July 12, 2011 who may have heard Rebecca’s screams or seen something unusual. There may also be people who observed acts or behavior of Adam Shacknai since the murder, or have perhaps heard comments he made that may further incriminate him.

The Zahau Family is offering a $100,000.00 reward for information that leads directly to the arrest and conviction of Adam Shacknai for the murder of Rebecca Zahau.* Anyone who may have relevant information is urged to call the toll-free number below, or visit greerlawapc.com/contact.
